Destination NSW has unveiled an exciting new campaign in collaboration with the Caravan and Camping Industry Association, aiming to ignite a passion for camping and outdoor adventures across the state. Dubbed ‘Feel More, Live More’, this marketing initiative seeks to draw attention to the abundance of experiences waiting to be discovered in NSW’s 400 holiday parks.
The decision to launch this campaign comes on the heels of a remarkable achievement, with NSW holiday parks achieving an impressive 81% average occupancy rate during the New Year week in December 2024, marking the highest rate in four years. This success has paved the way for a month-long campaign designed to showcase the wonders of NSW during the autumn, winter, and spring seasons.
Minister for Tourism, John Graham, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting NSW’s position as the top destination in Australia for caravan and camping enthusiasts. With a vision to reach $91 billion in annual visitor economy expenditure by 2035, the government is keen on supporting the caravan and camping sector due to its significant role in job creation and economic growth, especially in regional NSW.
Statistics from Tourism Research Australia further emphasize NSW’s appeal, ranking the state as the leader in domestic overnight caravan and camping visitors, nights spent, and expenditure. In the year ending September 2024, five million domestic overnight visitors engaged in caravan and camping experiences across NSW, underscoring the sector’s popularity.
Lyndel Gray, CEO of the NSW Caravan and Camping Industry Association, praised the state’s natural beauty and the increasing interest in camping and caravanning. Gray emphasized the shift towards holiday parks being more than just a seasonal getaway, offering a plethora of attractions that cater to diverse interests and preferences, making them ideal year-round destinations.
Karen Jones, Destination NSW’s Acting CEO, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of caravan and camping experiences in bolstering regional tourism. Through the ‘Feel More, Live More’ campaign, Destination NSW aims to encourage more visitors to explore the state’s holiday parks throughout the year, promoting sustainable growth for local businesses and communities.
The campaign will have a multi-channel approach, starting with TV advertisements in NSW and expanding into regional Victoria, the ACT, and Southern Queensland, followed by targeted social and digital content. Aligned with the ethos of the Feel New brand, ‘Feel More, Live More’ aligns with the Recharge Here campaign, which focuses on electric vehicle-friendly road trips in Greater Sydney and regional NSW.
As camping enthusiasts gear up for their next adventure, the ‘Feel More, Live More’ campaign stands as a beacon, guiding them towards unforgettable experiences in the great outdoors of NSW. Whether seeking solace in nature or embracing the local culture, the state’s holiday parks offer a gateway to unparalleled moments of joy and discovery, beckoning travelers to immerse themselves in all that regional NSW has to offer.
